Slow Food UW – We are Here!

Good. Clean. Fair.

These words are often overlooked because they are ubiquitous and fairly straight forward. However, I ask you to pause over them one more time. How amazing would life be if all parts of it were good, clean, and fair?

The slow food movement is obviously based around a culinary nucleus, however, this movement is doing much more than filling bellies with yummy food. This movement is challenging the fast pace of life that has taken over our health, our families, our businesses, and our way of life. This movement calls for a slower pace. It argues that too much is lost in our quality of life if we are controlled by the dollar and the clock. So how do we make these adjectives, good, clean, and fair a practical part of life? Well, Slow Food UW-Madison has decided to start with the stomach….and then let the satisfaction of a well-prepared, delicious tasting meal affect all parts of life…Here is how to make “slow living” practical…

We do not simply focus on food…

We focus on where food comes from…

We focus on how food is obtained…

We focus on how food is prepared…

We focus on how food is consumed…

And we focus on how food can bring people together.
